The town of Deadhorse, Alaska is a place that you’ll never forget.
Deadhorse is a tiny settlement on the north slope of Alaska, surrounded by nothing but mountains and trees. The community has no roads, no schools, no restaurants, and no hotels—all it has is an airstrip and some trailers where people live. But if you want to see some incredible things in your lifetime, this is the place to be!
The town was named for its location: Dead Horse Point. It’s also known as “the end of the road” because there are no roads leading into or out of Deadhorse. Only one road leads out of town—and it takes you straight back to Prudhoe Bay Oil Field where all those oil wells are pumping away 24/7!
Only about 800 people are living in Deadhorse at any given time. Most of them work in the oil field nearby and come from all over the world! There are Russians, Chinese people, Filipinos… even Canadians! They all come together here because they know they can make good money working on the rigs at Prudhoe Bay Oil Field.
